Purchasing a home is a huge investment! You have already gone through the home inspection and hopefully the “guts” of the house are very sound. The house may be brand spanking new or it could be an older home and some renovations were done prior to the big moving day. You may have put in new carpet or hardwood floors, changed walls and sheet rocked, or perhaps a new furnace. Maybe you were lucky enough to move into an older home that was in move in condition! Regardless of the circumstances, don’t forget about the respiratory system of your home – the duct work. Make the investment to assure the air is clean and free of contaminants. Here is a short list of common debris often found in ductwork:
Construction debris
Dust & dust mites
Dead skin
Dead insects
Cobwebs
Mold spores
Pet dander/hair
Pollen
Rodent droppings
Sheet rock dust
Sawdust
Don’t forget your dryer vent either! Dryer fires are a leading cause of house fires and it could be prevented with yearly maintenance. If your home is brand new, check back with us in a year. If you purchased an older home, it is strongly suggested the line be thoroughly cleaned. The vent can become packed with lint or even a bird’s nest!
