Do I need my ducts cleaned post construction? 

The answer is YES! When wood is being cut or sanding is taking place, debris becomes airborne.

Also, lets face it… contractors want to be comfortable while working. This means your HVAC system is turned to a desired temperature. Even if during construction, all precautions are taken i.e. using filters at all vent grills or the system is off; it does not guarantee your air ducts remain debris free.

An average filter is only 60% effective, which means 40% of all dust gets passed the filter resulting in the dust being blown through your home. If your HVAC system is off that still doesn’t put you in the clear. Your ducts still act like a vacuum even with the system off. Physics states that heat will always be drawn to cold. This means that any particulate within warm air now is drawn to your cool duct work. 

Additionally, contractors often utilize air conditioning to speed up the drying process of spackle, adhesives and paint as humidity in the air will drastically slow down the drying process and hence, the overall project.
