Air Quality In The Workplace

OSHA writes, “The quality of indoor air inside offices, schools and other workplaces is important not only for the worker’s comfort but also for their health”.

Here are some symptoms that poor air quality in a building can create:

  • Irritation to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty concentrating

There are many factors that contribute to poor indoor air quality. Some of them include poor ventilation, dust from construction or remodeling, mold and even the cleaning supplies regularly used. There are only two States that have Indoor Air Quality regulations for public employees. They are California and New Jersey. The standard in New Jersey is the New Jersey Indoor Air Quality Standard (N.J.A.C. 12:100-13). This regulation basically sets the standard for indoor air quality in buildings occupied by public employees but the same standards should be taken into consideration by the private sector as well.

Preventative maintenance schedules for the HVAC systems in public buildings must be established and all employee complaints regarding any building related illness or sick building syndrome must be immediately investigated. Advanced Furnace & Air Duct Cleaning provides services to both the public and private sector. Our private sector customers take indoor air quality very seriously and many, many of both are currently in our scheduled maintenance program.

When in our maintenance program, you will receive a reminder that a duct cleaning is due after two years. You might request that we do a visual inspection to see if the cleaning can go to three years. This will depend on many variables. Scheduled maintenance often leads to discounts if you clean on a regular basis. The first cleaning is usually longer, especially if the system has never been cleaned before or years have passed in between cleaning. We will ask if there are any new issues we need to know about, if there were any renovations to the property or if the HVAC system was updated or changes made. If necessary, a new proposal will be emailed or faxed.

All things considered, Advanced Furnace & Air Duct Cleaning is the Company qualified enough to handle all jobs regardless of private or public, large or small, maintenance or on an emergency basis. Advanced works with many remediation companies across the State should an unfortunate event such as fire or flooding become an issue. Advanced is all you need!
